"Small doesn't mean weak"

"Small doesn't mean weak"

I wanted to share with you today how I came to create a little dainty poodle doll. As you know I have designed about 2 dozen different animal dolls. One of the last I created was "Mrs. Poodle." This post is not meant to be sad, but it does have some sadness in it. I recently lost my little dog Ruby. She was a beautiful little blonde fluffy poodle given to me by one of my sons. I adored Ruby. While she was tiny, she was NOT weak! Ruby was friends with our other dog Via who weighed around 70 pounds. Even though Ruby came to our family after Via, when Ruby arrived, she was the boss. Ruby loved Via and Via loved her back, but it was just understood that Ruby was the boss. Ruby could run like the wind, and she loved to go for a walk out on the Idaho canals where she would jump in the water, chase grasshoppers, bark at waterfowl, and get muddy! Ruby loved car rides, she loved going shopping, and she loved going to visit other people. At night Ruby would race back and forth in our home with her yellow chewy rag toy. She would growl when we tried to steal it from her. She was just playing. Ruby followed me everywhere and she slept on our bed. She was my little pal. We were deeply saddened when we learned that she had kidney failure at only 7 years old. She lost her health very quickly and within 2 weeks she was just gone. As the time has rolled on without my little pal Ruby, I have been grateful for her life and the amazing lessons she left for me to cherish. One lesson that is so clear to me is that while she may have been small physically, her presence and her spirit were not small or weak. Ruby loved her life, and she loved us in a big way. She was not afraid of anything. Sometimes we humans forget that we are allowed to take up space here on this planet. I know I sometimes forget that I also deserve a turn, or a piece of the pie, a nap, or a hug. Ruby showed me that being strong and confident is very important, especially if you are small like she was. I love those important reminders and I adore Ruby. I created Mrs. Poodle as a tribute, a "nod" if you will, towards my sweet Ruby. Mrs. Ruby doll is pretty like Ruby was. She has on her poodle skirt, and she looks a big stuffy. She isn't. This doll is adorned with lovely bows, cute shoes and a beauty mark. Your child will LOVE her. I hope you get a chance to buy this pattern and make this wonderful doll. Your beloved Little will thank you!
